Gartner's Hype Cycle
I had a really interesting discussion with Chris Szymansky, the VP of Engineering at The Resumator, last week. The discussion was all about their high-level business strategy – where they are at, what the competition looks like at this point, what has happened since I was with them a couple of years ago and so on. It was a really interesting conversation in and of itself, and it reminded me again why I love working at technology startups. There is no doubt that including your employees on such discussions is one of the most effective ways to motivate them.

Photos & Audio Recording
Before I put this blog to rest, I wanted to post some links to a few photo albums and the audio recording of the last concert in Bosnia. I came back with just under 4,000 photos. It took several full days to go through all of them, and they ended up in a couple albums on Facebook. If you’re interested, you can check out Part I and Part II.
I also uploaded a recording of the last concert in Bosnia to SoundCloud. It’s not the best quality (it was taken on an iPhone in the middle of the audience), but it is certainly better than nothing!

Real Life
Well, tomorrow I begin real life – or at least that is what they seem to call it. But what does that make the past twenty some years of my life? Were they fake? I hope not. It would be pretty depressing if the life I have been leading was fictitious.
Real life, though. What does that even mean? Is it the transition from a paying student to a paid employee? Perhaps. But I think that depends on one’s definition of student. To be clear, I fully intend to continue learning despite the completion of my “formal” education – you know, the past seventeen years of schooling from elementary to middle, high school through college. Good times.

Graduation Address
I meant to post this a couple of weeks ago, but I have actually been in Eastern Europe touring with the Heinz Chapel Choir. It was a really unexpected trip – one of the guys couldn’t go at the last minute, and I was invited on the tour a few days before they left. The trip was incredible, and I am forever thankful for the opportunity. I took just under 4,000 photos in about twelve days. They ended up in a few public Facebook albums, so if you’re interested, feel free to check out Part I and Part II.
